Gateway to Access GyralGrinder® Comminution Machines

The GyralGrinder® is uniquely engineered to create and control an imbalanced gyratory condition to a grinding dish containing a sample substance. The grinding media components of the dish, a puck and ring, are forced to energetically impact and crush the sample. Sample particles are reduced to a uniform size, shape and distribution in just moments enabling rapid preparations.

The GyralGrinder® is ergonomically designed for operator comfort and easy access to the working chamber and controls. Comminution vessels are easily secured in position and removable by use of a uniquely engineered single lever clamping mechanism that swings away for unobstructed access to the working chamber. One moving part, a bearing, interconnects the 3/4 HP DC motor to the gyratory mechanics. An intensity of impact control varies the motor speed for accommodating samples ranging from soft to very hard. A solid state electronic timer indicates elapsed time on a LCD display. Different comminution vessels are optionally available.

Comminution vessels for the GyralGrinder include hardened steel, tungsten carbide and zirconia. They are configured specifically to function with the GyralGrinder clamping mechanism. The dishes incorporate an upper ridge for ease of handling and the lids have a central depression for self-alignment and clamping in position. Image of GyralGrinder® clamping mechanism

Gateway to Access SpectroMill®– I Ball Pestle Impact Grinder

The SpectroMill – I is a Ball Pestle Impact Grinder that operates on the principle of motivating one or more ball pestles within a specially designed SpectroVial from one end of a vial clamping mechanism to the other. The motion is very energetic and comminution is effected by the ball pestles crushing the sample against the interior ends of the vial and an automatic reversal of direction for a repeat performance on the opposite end of the vial. A solid state electronic timer indicates lapsed time on an LCD display. A variety of SpectroVials are available in different materials and volumes. SPECTROMILL®-I BALL PESTLE IMPACT GRINDER

Gateway to Access SpectroMill®– II Ball Pestle Impact Grinder

The SpectroMill – II Ball Pestle Impact Grinder similarly operates as its SpectroMill – I counterpart. The difference between the two units is that the SpectroMill –II includes an additional vial clamping mechanism to accommodate processing two different samples at the same time. With the use of a Multi-Vial Adapter, both models have the expansion capability of concurrently processing additional samples in SpectroVials.

Both models are sturdily built, utilize 1/3 HP motors, shock distribution engineering for quiet vibration-free counter top operation, include programmable timers with LCD displays and cycle completion alarm and safety features.

Gateway to Access SpectroMill® Comminution Vials

SpectroVial® grinding/blending vials are specially designed with concaved interior ends that prevent the sample from caking and almost indiscernible parting lines at the junctures of the vial bodies and caps where sample particles normally tend to accumulate and elude the comminution process.

Additionally, the material composition of both the vial bodies and closures are the same to ensure maximum impact force for uniform particle size reduction, configuration and distribution for more homogeneous samples.

SpectroVials are available in clear polystyrene, hardened stainless steel, rust resistant stainless steel and titanium carbide with a similar Rockwell “C” hardness as tungsten carbide. Compatible Ball Pestles are available.

Gateway to Access Ball Pestles for SpectroVial® Comminution Vials

SpectroMills® operate on the principle of energetically motivating one or more ball pestles contained in a SpectroVial® together with a sample substance from one end to the other. The selection of a ball pestle material is a function of the type of SpectroVial® in use.

Ball pestles are offered in various diameters and materials for handling the softest of sample substances to the most challenging to uniformly reduce particle size, shape and distribution to a homogeneous representative sample mixture.

Gateway to Access SpectroMill® Multi - SpectroVial® Adapters

Multi-Vial Adapters enable more than one sample to be simultaneously processed. This extends the processing range of a single SpectroMill Ball Pestle Impact Grinder that reflects a decrease in time for sample preparation.

Available with different bore diameters to accommodate a variety of SpectroVial comminution vials.

Gateway to Access Impact Mortar and Pestle Sets

Impact Mortar and Pestle Sets are available to de-agglomerate large pieces of sample materials that will not be normally accommodated by SpectroVials.

Simply insert sample into chamber, secure in position and lift the solid pestle up and down with force to crush the sample until the sample is of adequate size to fit into a SpectroVial.
