SpectroFilm™ Safety Secondary Windows Eliminate Annoying Static Cling and Contamination from Handling

SpectroFilm™ offers the analyst a practical means to protect the x-ray tube and detector windows and related electronics from damaging exposure to accidental sample material spillage. This is easily accomplished by inserting a self-sticking SpectroFilm Safety Secondary Window in between the stage separating the lower electronics compartment and upper sample chamber.

Dimensions

SpectroFilm Self-Sticking Safety Secondary Windows consist of a thin-film substance affixed to a 4" (101.6 mm) square paper frame less than 0.5 mm thick, containing a 3-1/4” (82.6 mm) diameter through-hole opening in the center. The opposite side contains an adhesive layer strip covered with a white colored release paper to secure the SpectroFilm in position.

Thin-Film Materials Available

SpectroFilm is supplied in three substances that offer a broad range of chemical resistance to sample spillages: Mylar®, Prolene® and especially Etnom®, which is noted for its exceptional resistance to both aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. SpectroFilm is available in three similar gauges selected to exhibit minimal and approximately similar absorption through the thin-film substance and similar tensile strengths.

Self-Stick Backing Secures SpectroFilm in Position

Simply remove the white colored release paper to expose the adhesive surface side. Center the SpectroFilm with the adhesive surface faced down directly over the through-hole opening in the platform located above the electronics compartment and beneath the sample cup holder. Firmly press the paper edges down to ensure a complete and effective protective thin-film shield. Replace periodically to avoid the thin-film from becoming brittle after extended use and potentially ineffective in application.
