HOW TO SELECT AN XRF SAMPLE CUP SIZE

The traditional method of selecting a sample cup begins with taking the following three measurements of the sample cup holder or device provided with the x-ray instrumentation:

  1. THE INSIDE DIAMETER of the sample cup holder is used to determine the outside sample cup diameter size that will comfortably fit inside the sample cup holder.

  2. THE INSIDE DIAMETER OF THE APERTURE measurement is used to determine if the sample cup diameter is adequately large to be supported on the aperture ledge and not fall through it.

  3. THE MAXIMUM INSIDE HEIGHT measured from the ledge forming the aperture to the top of the sample cup holder is needed to be less in height than the sample cup to avoid its protrusion that may present a potential interference.

With this information and reference to the "Quick Reference Chart"closely match a sample cup to the sample cup holder inclusive of selecting your attribute options such as Snap-On Ring or TrimLess® collar to affix thin-film, external or internal overflow reservoirs, vented snap-on cap, provision for mounting Microporous Film for equalizing pressure differentials between the interior of the sample cup and sample chamber, serrated edge snap-on rings for trimming extraneous thin-film from the assembled sample cup, SpectroMicro® sample cups and other interesting attributes.

The "Quick Reference Chart" lists the pertinent measurements of each sample cup: outside diameter, height, aperture diameter and maximum outside diameter in the event the inside diameter of the sample cup holder walls are not perpendicular.

Simply select the sample cup size to fit into the sample cup holder and select the attributes that are most suitable for the application. For convenience, the sample cups are arranged in order of Series. Common attributes and features are categorized within each Series.
