X-ray Fluorescence Thin-Film Sample Support Materials

Thin-Film Sample Supports are available in different gauges and chemical compositions to satisfy the spectrochemical investigations of virtually all analyte-lines. They are supplied in several configurations for economy and convenience for attachment to XRF Sample Cups. Typical Sample Support Substances are: Polyester, Prolene®, Polypropylene, Polyimide (Kapton®), Mylar® and Etnom™ Thin-Films.

Did you know?

Etnom™ Thin-Film Sample Support Windows are exceptionally resistant to chemical attack by diesel and gasoline samples containing aliphatic and particularly aromatic hydrocarbons. Etnom eliminates thin-film softening, sagging under the weight of the sample and potential leakage. And, Etnom provides higher x-ray transmittance than other comparable thin-films especially for the less energetic (longer wavelength) spectral lines such as sulfur-K (S_K) for lower limits of detectability and higher count rates.

Etnom™ is supplied as SpectroMembrane® Thin-Film Carrier Frames. Simply place and center an Etnom SpectroMembrane over a Chemplex XRF sample cup and insert the Collar or Snap-on Ring in the usual manner. The carrier frame detaches automatically leaving a perfect taut thin-film sample support plane. No annoying static cling. No handling contamination. No experience necessary. No waste. Works from the first time used. Chemplex thin-film sample support windows are manufactured in compliance with the European Council Directive 2002/95/EC, Restriction on Hazardous Substances, RoHS. Refer to the following link for detailed information on the RoHS directive: Restriction of Hazardous Substances.

	CONTINUOUS ROLLS Rolls are 3" x 300' (7.6 cm x 91.4 m) contained in special boxes with serrated cutting edges. Each roll serves approximately 1200 sample preparations.
	PRE-CUT CIRCLES Pre-Cut Circles are 2.5" (6.4 cm) in diameter and packaged 500 and 1000 circles per box. Each circle is supported on individual carrier papers for ease of handling and to minimize contamination.
	SPECTROMEMBRANE® SAMPLE SUPPORT CARRIER FRAMES Thin-Film Sample Support Materials are pre-mounted on sturdy paper carrier frames. Within the center of the frame there are perforations approximately 3" (7.6 cm) in diameter that constitute the actual thin-film to affix to an XRF Sample Cup. The Thin-Film is pre-stretched to ensure a taut sample support and there is no troublesome static electricity to contend with, no contamination possibilities, no waste and no experience necessary.
